His First Swim, Snowshoe, and Spa Experience

As if 4 snow days off from work weren't enough, I had a 4 day weekend combining my alternating work schedule day off with President's Day. So to celebrate Valentines, President's and my 39th Birthday we headed 3 hours West to Deep Creek Lake Wisp Ski Resort to enjoy the largest snow pack they have ever had. With at least a 5 foot base and fresh powder every day it was epic. The resort was of descent quality and a nice large room to provide an extra sofa to relax and feed our son. To say the least this was an active vacation. My first day I snow boarded while Pranvera and Adrian explored the resort and had quality mom and son time. I was pleasantly surprised by the above average length and difficulty of the slopes and after 20 or so runs returned to the warm embrace of my family.

We also introduced Adrian to the pool and hot tube. Just incredible how well he took to it and got all the attention from the entire group of kids thinking he was a toy.

Our highlight had to have been our snowshoe adventure in the State Park. With our rented shoes we geared up and bundled him to head out on the trail for an hour or so. With the snow about 4-5 feet deep in places it was still quite a challenge walking on the unblazed snow. Some of the trails we were lucky enough to follow the footsteps of others which saved me from lifting a foot of snow off each of my shoes.

We finally got away from the resort to celebrate Valentines Day at an old lodge in the center of town. An incredible fresh fish meal, live jazz and a perfectly sleepy boy allowed us to do a proper date night.

And last but not least, my little boy surprised me on birthday morning with a warm muffin and candle along with a hidden package of manly cologne.
