School International Lunch, Birthday, Trip to Greece and Skiing

It has been a busy beginning of 2018 with plenty of good memories and family experiences. Fortunately winter has not been as harsh as years past aside from more days of terrible air pollution than I can remember. Adi's school kicked it off with the annual international lunch where all the kids and families dress in their traditional clothes (Adi has an American colored t-shirt under the Kosovo soccer suit) and bring traditional food dishes. Wonderful performances, chance to catch up with old friends, arts and crafts and just general chaos.

And getting older wouldn't be any fun unless the kids loved it for us. Good excuse for more dessert, funny hats and sound makers and a chance to hang out with local friends and family (without the kids).

Followed by a long holiday weekend away in Greece. We found a nice hotel on the beach 5 hours drive from Pristina to get some fresh air, warmer weather, shopping, Starbucks, exploration around ruins and general playtime.

Ending Adi's Winter break with a day visit to our local ski resort to enjoy a foot of fresh powder. However, par for the course, despite the perfect sun and snow, they felt it was too windy at the top to turn on the lifts and let us ski. While waiting for 4 hours we amused ourselves with sledding, a nice lunch, snowball fights and a half dozen runs on the kids slope. All good for a father son outing despite no boarding for dad.
