The Family Lunch (part 2 of 3)

After the 20 minute ceremony we all headed to Rron which is one of the finer restaurants 'in' Pristina. We had debated back and forth on where to do a more private and social lunch so that my 'family' could meet Pranvera's and we could make sure we had one excellent, large meal just in case we did not get any food at our own party (which is exactly what happened). Rron was selected due to the quality of food but also because of their very nice and private garden out back. But of course as the weather would have it, it started to rain a bit just as we caravaned there. So, our 15 person table was moved inside which was still a superb setting with the floor to ceiling windows, high ceiling and the entire place to ourselves.

Pranvera was represented by her immediate family that she lives with. Her older brother Ilir and his wife Valbona have 3 lovely girls, Eneida (15), Jeta (9) and Tea (4 who was not there). Her next older brother Shpetim with his wife Laura (who helped coordinate the engagement) and their son Rron (10) and Roxanna (12). Her mom and dad joined us of course. And from my side, my sister, John and Tanja. Everyone hit it off and language was no problem since most her family is fluent in English.

Our 5 course meal was way more food than we had anticipated. But with the champagne brought in from London and the wine, we were off to a good celebration start. Two hours later we were finishing off the 4 part dessert with the famous Kosovo Machiattos. John claims it was the best lamb he had ever had and my steak was absolutely perfect. The Rron staff and owner (a friend of Ilir) were on hand to make sure the lunch was beyond expectation. Pranvera almost didn't even notice that we weren't able to enjoy the warm sun and fresh flowers out in the garden. More importantly the dress survived without any food or wine accidents (can't say the same for my shirt at the party). As we all headed back to the city all the family members went off to their assigned tasks. Some were helping with flowers, the food for the party, cake pick-up, preparation of the bar, setting the sound and music and Pranvera attending to her hair and make-up. Our next rendezvous was an hour before the party at the hotel room her office had booked for us (see next blog).
