For the fist time since Rea was born Pranvera and I took
serval hours ‘off’ to enjoy our 6th wedding anniversary by hiring a
speedboat to cruise 40 minutes outside of Maputo and drop us off at Xefina, a
very small deserted island very close to the mainland but a feeling of
isolation and peace as if miles away from any civilization. We enjoyed a nice
long walk to see the old Portuguese prison falling away into the ocean and then
had a wine and cheese sundowner celebration on
the stories of our past and the adventures yet to be. The weather and sunset
could not have been more perfect as we motored back to port to join the family
and Stacey for her last night with us at a 4 year old bday party in the
American compound among close friends.

South Africa Outings
Despite spending days into nights centered around Rea in our nice SA home, we
did mobilize the stroller, diaper bag, baby Bjorn, car seat and ourselves to
enjoy several different day outings outside of Nelspruit SA. About an hour
drive to HazyView we found the outdoor adventure capital of Kruger Game Park.
From quad bikes to zip wire tree adventures to microlite flights the only thing
a post pregnant mother and infant could do was the Elephant Sanctuary which was
an educational close in counter with two rescued elephants. A great way for Adi
to learn more about them as well as touch and interact. My sister Stacey also
shared an intimate moment with one.
And another day trip to some local caves was a fun experience for us all and the first time for Adi. Baby Rea was cashed out in the carrier each time so he loved the attention. Afterward I enjoyed a natural pedicure by flesh eating fishies. Certainly not for those that are ticklish.
Another day found us at a Chimpanzee rehabilitation center with about 40 of these very entertaining animals. They each had a sad story to ‘tell’ but it was great to see them ‘in the wild’ and again learn about them. Our trip was cut short by afternoon rains but Adi and Stacey visited the park again to interact with them.
